10. TransformerAn ideal transformer just transforms the voltage and current. The phase will stay the same. A transformer is two solenoids interchanging magnetic fields (flux). The side with the voltage source is called the primary circuit. The other side is called the secondary circuit. Let's say the number of loops on the solenoid on the primary circuit is n_1 and the number of loops on the solenoid on the secondary circuit is n_2. Then the transformation of the voltages U_1 (of the primary circuit) and U_2 (of the secondary circuit) will be: Since the total power will be constant, the current will be just the inverse: A real transformer also has other components.
